What is the Blue Peel?
The blue peel uses varying strengths of TCA and a blue dye to control the application of the chemical. The advantage with this peel is that the provider can control the depth of penetration and the number of coats to achieve the desired effect.

How is the Blue Peel administered?
The TCA is mixed with a blue dye and applied to the desired area with a sponge. A slight burning sensation is typical therefore an oral sedative can be taken to reduce discomfort. The standard treatment takes one hour to perform.

Who can be treated with the Blue Peel?
All skin tones can safely be treated with the peel.

What is recovery like?
Typically the treated area will start to peel in 2-3 days and continue to peel for up to 6-10 days. It is recommended to not wear makeup until the area treated is completely healed.

How long are results?
Results are immediate and improvement can still be seen 4-6 weeks after the treatment. The duration of the peel is 2-3 years.

What are the side effects?
Possible risks associated with the blue peel are hyperpigmentation, hypertrophic scarring, infection and/or prolonged redness.
