Be free from the constant hassle of reading glasses!
Are you frustrated by the constant challenge of difficulty with reading close-up objects such as computer screens, menus, labels and newspapers? Do you feel alone in this daily struggle with readers or bifocals? You're not. Whether you have had perfect vision your entire life or have previously undergone laser vision correction for distance, everyone over 40 will eventually require reading glasses.
Over time, the need for reading glasses develops as your eye's natural lens begins to lose part of its elasticity. Presbyopia affects the lens of the eye and eventually everyone is challenged by reading objects up-close.
Recent industry developments have led Williamson Eye Center to offer an array of solutions to help you live a life free of reading glasses or bifocals and to restore what age has taken away!
- Monovision LASIK
When most patients who have undergone traditional LASIK surgery reach the age of forty to their mid forties, they will begin to feel the effects of presbyopia - leaving them with the need to utilize reading glasses for reading up-close objects such as the newspaper or a computer screen. Recent developments in LASIK technology now provide patients with Monovision LASIK, an application that adjusts one eye to see objects up close, while the other eye sees objects that are far away. The brain incorporates the visual information and adjusts to balance the images for a full spectrum of vision.
- Refractive Lens Exchange
A similar process to contemporary cataract surgery, Refractive Lens Exchange is used for patients with highly developed levels of near and farsightedness and can be performed before a cataract has even been detected.
By removing the natural lens of the eye and replacing it with a higher functioning lens, RLE changes the focusing power of the eye. The advanced multifocal lens acts like a permanent contact lens and provides the patient a combination of both distance and reading vision. Additionally, the removal of the natural lens means you will never be at risk for cataracts.
- Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL)
An Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL), provides excellent vision quality through surgical lens placement inside the eye, and unlike traditional contact lenses, requires no additional maintenance. Many patients who suffer from astigmatism or severe nearsightedness or farsightedness find that they are not candidates for LASIK. ICL, a great alternative to LASIK, provides crisp, clear visual freedom and liberation from the daily frustration of glasses or contacts.
- Glasses and Contacts
For some patients, surgical procedures are not the solution and may want to merely renew their vision prescription to include a new pair of glasses or bifocal contact lenses to see the world more clearly and brightly.
If you are interested in incorporating new readers or contacts into your daily routine, we would be delighted to update your prescription.
If you would like the opportunity to explore the variety of vision correction options that may be right for you, schedule your examination.
